CANDY DAY

LIONS/LIONESS HELP BLIND CHILDREN AND THOSE NEEDING MAJOR EYE SURGERY
By Sandra Decker

Thanks to the support of our community and the dedication of our Lions and Lioness of River Hills, blind children will be able to attend camp this summer, the Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit will be screening thousands of children and adults and those in need of major eye surgery will be helped.
By raising money through our various fundraisers (The Lions Telephone Directory and Sweet Repeat, for example,) the River Hills Lions and Lioness donated over $5,700 to the “Candy Day” program of the South Carolina Lions.  This is called the “Candy Day” program because Lions around the world sell mints to enable blind children to attend camp, provide free health screening to various communities and provide aid for major eye surgery for the needy.  So, when you hear a Lion talk about Candy Day, know that your local Lions/Lioness Clubs are able to provide outstanding “Candy Day” support thanks to local individuals and companies who support our Directory, Sweet Repeat and the other fundraisers we sponsored.
